This must be one of the best nest shots I have taken during my first real project, that was actually Jasper Doest's project at the time. He asked me to join in and we had the best time ever with these birds! One really nice afternoon everything came together.

This is the female returning to the nest. Some might want the perfect headturn, but for me this is showing the female really attending to here chicks.

    Hope you like it,

I thought I had replied to this before and I don't see it now.
Anyway, gorgeous light and habitat, very good behavior image, where the BG and the water
    drops add a lot.
If this were mine, I'd crop a few milliliters off the bottom for a cleaner look.
Congrats on a fine image, Krijin :)

Very interesting image. Maybe a little to saturated? Tack sharp. Beautiful colours. Looks to me likes she is attending to her eggs not chicks? Well done Krijn.

This is fantastic Krijin and you nailed it in a very good way. Also, I am surprised to see lens you used is 100-400 mm and that encourages me. Congrats!!

Super pose and colours, Krijn. I like the BG and nest with visible egg shells. I might tone down the blues a little.

Excellent Krijn! I like that you captured this Grebe as it was positioning itself to tend to the eggs nice surrounding habitat.

Lovely - just lovely. I really like the natural pose to bring out the bird's instincts. Agree with the comment on the blues - a bit electric on the edges. The thing that really popped for me were the water drops. Some on the front of the breast are a little hot (or just a half diameter of some of the drops were) and they pull my eye there.

I like the perspective here, together with the detail and colours. The droplets on the belly really adds to the image.
