Intergrade, intermediate or hybrid it's still a Northern Flicker. As I peeked out of my blind I got excited when I saw this flicker on the ground below the suet feeder. I then got even more excited when he flew to the perch [that I had provided] and struck this neat pose. This flicker has the red moustache of the red shafted form [western]. The moustache of the yellow shafted form [eastern] is black. The red crescent on the nape is a marker of the yellow shafted and is absent on the red shafted. Therefore this is a hybrid, intermediate or intergrade take your choice. But it is still a Northern Flicker.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Interesting-looking specimen. I like the look-back pose, angle and BG and would try to get more details in the shadows, especially the tail.

I agree with the above and also wish for just a hair more of a head turn. Nice exposure, colors and BG. I am envious, I have yet to get a decent sighting of a flicker.

Lovely background, with a nicely provided perch. Good detail, light, colour. I like the heads position and composition as a whole.
