Default PS CS5....Is This Taking things too Far?

Not sure how many have seen this clip of CS5 yet, but thought this was interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X58evj9A8lg

I think the technology rocks....but part of me is wondering how far should we take post processing and when does a photo become something else? Wondering what others thoughts are?

I think the first thing we should do is to define what a photograph is. Hopefully the definition is based on more than just one's emotion and feeling.

Something that we should keep in mind is "post-processing", creating composits and so on happened in the darkrooms, too.

I like the concept, looks like a more sophisticated clone tool. Can't hurt to have this in the tool box.

Like many tools, it can be abused. Looks pretty cool for correcting dust problems.

I think the current clone tool is not quite as sophisticated.

I don't really understand your question, "How far should we take post processing?". Maybe you can give a hypothetical case that confronts this question.

Here is the research behind it:

This was a product of one of Adobe's advanced technology / research labs.

The video was prepared for and shown at a recent National Association of Photoshop Professionals and is 4 or 5 months old. No guarantees that it will be in CS5, it is just what Adobe software engineers are working on.

Kurt, I agree - great technology, but his comment at the end was great, "here's my family vacation, but I'd like to remember it without the power plant!", boy if they could just figure out a spot fill tool for the really horrible things like earthquakes life would be really sanitary. My sarcasm aside, I think it is really cool technology and can see its applications, but its misuses as well.
