Dismal lighting today, wait its Western WA in winter, what else is new. Had to get out, got a few keepers before the rains hit.

Great image Todd. I hear you on the dismal lighting. It certainly looks like you nailed the exposure and sharpness. Shame about the ripple in front of the bird, I feel that without this you could have cropped a little more from the bottom and the reflections would be intact. Even though BG is busy I think it works.
Great sense of habitat here, I love it! To me "dismal" light = great mood to images and better exposure control on tough to expose subjects, although I admit light overcast is better than dark overcast:) The downward pointing grass blade towards the head bugs me a bit.
