Not much moving around yet, so dug into the vault, took this photo of a Winter Wren at Thickson's Woods near Toronto...waited for him to come to me along a trail and he gave me great view from close up...50% crop. I was under canopy but the light was right. Tried all the things I've learned in 2 weeks on your site. Cleaned up background, left more room on right (direction he is looking in) and lighten up his eye.

Paul this is a real cute pose and I love the alert tail. I do find it is cropped a little tight on the top but great to the left and in front of the the wren and it would be a plus if we could see the feet but that is not always possible. It appears to be slightly over sharpened on my monitor. Many thanks for sharing and will look forward to your future posts Paul.
Being cropped 50% I believe you could recrop and give it more room as it is a bit tight here. Not sure what those are at right but they look like post-processing artefacts and need tidying up. Great classic pose by the wren but wish the foot was out of the shadows. :-)
Thanks for comments, tried suggestions. Cropped a little less, not as much sharpening, cleaned up dead leaves in background, and reduced noise. Will hopefully have some new photos with D300 and new lens, leaving for Nova Scotia's, Briar Island tonite, looking for Alcids, be back in a week..thanks again...Paul
