Could someone confirm the ID? Taken from a boat in Elkhorn Slough (Moss Landing, CA) last September. I'm guessing Western Gull, first winter or juv, but I'm not very familiar with west coast birds. Thanks.

Bill- The overall dusky/dark-grey appearance certainly suggests a Western Gull, and I think you are correct on the age- these birds were chicks in 2009.
Thank you John. That seemed to be the closed ID match in Sibley, but I wasn't sure.
