    sanderling or snowy plover juv [not my photo] but was posted for id .My guess was SP need some help ?? forgot almost so calif coast

    Jeff- Definitely not a plover- the bill is far too long on this bird, and the eye is too small. This is a Calidris sandpiper. It does look like a Sanderling to me but I'll leave it to others to positively ID.

    It's a Sanderling and appears to be in first basic plumage.

    my vote for sanderling. pale face, black beak, black legs.
