    Default You can't see me

I've been debating posting this. I've wanted this image for awhile because of the lack of eye contact. It's not technically sound, I know. Got it a few days ago.

I like it as presented. Techs are solid, man that 50D can support high ISO!

Colin - cool nature shot and a hard picture to take, must be fast on the trigger - well done.

Look at those beautiful primaries and ice is a plus!

    Hi Colin,
I actually like the capture. This is a good behavior record shot. From a technical point of view, and keeping with the standard guidelines and parameters in which we judge an image, I would have liked to have seen the duck's head and eye and with separation from the forward wing spread. From the artist's point of view, if you are happy with your image and you like it, just remember, its your photograph and you like it, thats what counts. The color rendition and feather details are super. Mother Natures contribution with the added snow and ice is a blessing...well done Sir...keep them coming...

What makes it for me is the tip of the bill showing. Neat image

The tip of the bill showing makes it for me too; can see why you'd like it! I do too!

    Thanks all!

Jeff, I was shooting at ISO 2500 later on. Yes, with proper exposure control, it does very well for a crop sensor at high ISO. Here's an ISO 2500 shot if you want to take a look: http://www.pbase.com/clknight/image/120893156

Thanks for your comments Gus. Technically, I certainly agree with your comment about the eye contact. And I do want to add an image like that to my library soon! I can't be credited with the color, set the WB to "cloudy" and fire away! But those feather details really shine through with the bare 500mm vs. the teleconverter which I removed for that extra stop of light. Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to comment Gail and Anita!

Colin, I checked out the link, amazing quality for that ISO speed. Nice shot too, love the composition.

    Colin:
I like it as presented. Although you can't see the eye, it has a feel of movement. Agree with Anita on the bill.
    Congrats
