2 textures used here: one of my own and one by Boccacino. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/boccacino/)
Both textures had hue/saturation changes applied to form more of a 'blend' of color. Used multiply and soft light blending modes.

Barbara, I really love Gerbera Daisies and these look so nice w/ the complimentary BG. I would only recommend getting a bit closer to the edges as a slight halo look has formed. Very nice texture overlay and the composition is fabulous!:)

Beautiful composition, Barbara. Your textures are excellent. Agree with Denise, the daisies look nice with near complementary bg.

Thanks, Denise and Indranil. Denise, I have a re-edit, but couldn't get it reposted in time for the 'theme' uploads. I worked quite a bit with the painting the first time and it's a challenge to keep a yellow flower bright and not dingy. Suggestions welcome!

Barbara, this is a work of art IMO! Very nice detail and illustration effect! The main subjects really "pop"!

Barbara, You can go ahead and post it in this thread. Maybe try selecting the flower and inverting your selection, then mask back in some BG. at a lower opacity to blend/feather it out.I don't think it needs to be perfect but maybe not so visible.

Thanks, Denise, and I think this is a tad better. As I tried some different things, where I had to be the most careful was in any contrast adjustment, so this re-post lacks some of the contrast, but should have less 'halo' appearance. It's a tradeoff here it seems.

Like the second a wee bit better, with maybe just a bit more selective sharpening. Beautiful complimentary colour palette.

wonderful colors and a nice comp to start with Barbara..not sure what could cause the halo affect around the petals, but I really enjoy the intimate nature of your flower duos, they're all so very well composed :)

Thank you Dan, Denise, Cheryl, Jackie, Cindy and Julie. The 'halo' effect showed up as blue - and contrast adjustments (whether Topaz, curves or the USM) seemed to accentuate it. Textures are funny that way because of blending of colors, regardless of the blending mode. Some images it works to leave some texture on the subject, but with a yellow flower, it was better to paint most of it off. I did do selective sharpening and had to be careful there as well. Always have to experiment and thanks to everyone for your feedback here!
