I nearly threw this image out as the composition was rubbish, then I decide to do a fairly large crop for a portrait shot. Any comments?

    Martin,
Is this photographed underwater or in aquarium?

The eye has come out well. I would have loved some higher depth of field. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Hi Sabyasachi, it is an underwater shot. These are salt water fish common in NZ waters.

Hi Martin Crop came out well, did nail the focus on the original !! Crop works particularly to add text on the left side, great for a publication !!!

btw I was a member of the Whangaroa Big Gamefish Club ... never was able to go but did come close several times :)

I'd never thought about that. Now I just need someone to publish it:D Were you a member of the gamefish club through an overseas membership? Have you been to NZ?

Good comp, I like it. Sabya, anything that has Ikelite strobes would be underwater as those are underwater specific flashes that are watertight.

I think we call these guys Sweep in Australia, from memory of course. Were you at the Poor Knights?

Hi Akos, yep most of my diving is done up there, of course you find these guys in abundance all around northland if not the whole country.
    cheers
