    Gary:

    Very nice background with the subtle clouds. Good DOF.

    There is strong side lighting here which left much of the bird in the shadow.

    Head and wing merge, and a bit tight for me top,bottom and left.

    Tomorrow will be better.:D

    Thank you for the critique Randy. I posted this as a fine example of Rembrandt Lighting without the window of course.

    Looking good Gary, I also am hoping tomorrow will have some nice morning light. I seen when Chad and I left a batch of trumpeters flew by, guess we missed that batch, we did see a coopers hawk in a tree in the parking lot while we loaded the van so we snapped a few shots.     Hey Gary, Randy's got it pretty much covered. I like the hint of clouds in the sky, and with these huge "slow" flyers you had enough SS with that low ISO to freeze the motion (but don't be afraid to bump it up if you anticipate action). From the sounds of it this sounds like quite a productive place you've got there!
