    Default House Finch (Orange variant)

This fella was with a big group of house finches....first time I have seen the orange variant, had to look it up to be sure what it was. He didn't give me the greatest shot but thought it would be worth posting since it's a little unusual. Canon 40D, 300 2.8L + 1.4TC, f/6.3, 1/640 sec., iso 640, +1/3 EV, no flash. This is a setup using a feeder and hide in my backyard. Typical photoshop processing, nothing cloned or added.

I like this very, very much, and congratulate you on a fine image. I like the placement
in the frame, the soft bokeh, the variation of earth tones, and just the right saturation on the
    bird. Well done!

A lovely picture with a nice POV and perch. However, I would clone out all the highlight halos in the BG to make for better visual impact.

Very nice. I like the position of the bird, the head turn, the long perch, and all the little flakes and spots in the background. Also the overall subdued colors that harmonize with the bird's colors.

Just two tiny suggested adjustments here: I removed the broken spot on the branch and hit Mr. Finch very lightly with Topaz Detail to bring out the finer feather details a little more. Nice job!

Nice comp...I love the fact it is sitting at the very end of the perch. As a controlled setup just watch out for ugly imperfections such as the broken-off piece. I like the winter weather included.

David, thanks for the help...great job cloning out the broken stub. The sharpening helped as well. The repost is definitely better. I attempted to fix the perch but couldn't get the edge to look clean.

Daniel, you're right I should be a little more attentive to details like that, thanks. The branch was one that fell off a cherry tree last winter in the ice storm and it has lots of broken areas.
