    Default CHE at Sunset.

Made this image during sunset. The light was very harsh. I have tried to process this image the best i can but need help from the experts on improving it.
    Details:
    Nikon D40x, Aperture Priority, Sigma 50-500@500mm, f6.3, ISO 400, 1/60s.
    regards,
    Kaustubh.

Hi - a big warm welcome to the BPN family - nice first post.
    Techs look solid.
I would add some selective sharpening to the bird - looks just a tad soft and likewise the eye a little sharpening here will also make the whole image appear sharper.
Feels a little tight on the LHS and if it fits within your ethics would clone out the branches on the LHS.
Also made the mid tones just a tad darker.

quick and dirty - but something like this.

Look forward to seeing more :)

Thanks a ton Lance. The image looks super now!! i wanted to ask you what tool you used to sharpen the eye? When i try to do selective sharpening, these white spots appear over the sharpened area. Also the branch on the LHS was looking bad, haha. Eager to learn a lot more.
    regards,
    Kaustubh.

    Big Warm Welcome Kaustubh

Great advice and re post from Lance !!!! Can add would like you seeing raising the ISO, at 1/60th is tough ... you can always clean up noise but not camera shake !!!

For slight darkening I like using selective color and adding some neutral and black, works great !!!

Thanks a lot for the advice sir. This was a handheld image while standing in a Gypsy(Blunder!!). Now i always use a bean bag. I was afraid of the noise at ISO over 400 on the D40x, but i've realized that a noisy image is better than a shaky one as it can be corrected to a great extent.
    Regards,
    Kaustubh.

What you posted seems pretty heavily processed; I'd like to see what you started with.
