Hi milt - techs look solid - bird looks sharp and well exposed.
A lower shooting angle would have been good if possible, the OOF reeds in the foreground a just a tad distracting not too bad though.
    Keep em coming :)

    Hi Milt,
I like this as presented. You have good feather details, along with a good head angle and sharp eye contact. Your subject is placed just right in frame...I too would have liked to have seen a much lower capture angle, but I have been to Green Cay myself...and sometimes its just not possible...good show...keep them coming...

    Hi Milt,
I felt this would be stronger as a vertical to show the nice detail and colors better by making the bird bigger in the frame. I cropped it as such, re-sized it (you can post up to 1024x800), added some NR to the bg and sharpened the bird a bit. Just a different thought and done very quickly... ;) Good show!

Love the sharpness, the feather details, and good environment shown. Wish this was shot a lower angle and agree about NR in the background.

To me it's a pleasing image, Milt. I like the space around him, and for me it's sharp in the right places. Only thing I might do is remove the lighter specks by his bill.

Agree with Anita on specks, like the OP with some cleanup.

I like the colors, it is unusual and a pleasing combination.

The specks on the reeds -- they seem a bit strange to me. Did they get over-sharped perhaps? It's already a bit OOF, but these tend to jump out a bit, like maybe they are picking up some halos. Maybe selectively sharpen the bird?

I disagree with Kerry. I like the fallen reeds as they are strong elements of the COMP. In fact, I would like to see more on the right if you have it to get it back to 3 X 2 proportions. I would also lose the several lighter leaves that are on top of the duckweed.

    Artie,

Many thanks for your critique which is very much appreciated. I, too, prefer my OP to the re-post and will take note of your suggestions.

Here is a re-post of a wider version. It does not include removing the light spots in the duckweed. This is for composition only.

Wider version works the best, captures the scene. Great image.
