    From my backyard setup today, 10 degrees F! Bird feeder/Ameristep Hide. Canon 40D, 300mm 2.8L + 1.4TC, tripod. 1/400 sec., f/6.3, iso 400, +2/3 EC, no flash. Usual photoshop processing, nothing cloned out or added. NR on BG.

    Joel:

    Beautiful soft light, sharp, well exposed. Very complimentary background.

    I might consider a slight change in crop to get the bird off the horizontal midline, and perhaps clone out the small bit of flower reaching towards the neck.

    Nice.

    Very nice and sharp picture, I like the light. I agree with Randy, regarding crop.

    I would like to see this image in a vertical composition, keeping the Goldfinch in the upper left. Neat image of a Goldfinch in winter dress.

    Very nice shot. I like the color scheme. Sometimes winter coats are beautiful in their subtleness. I agree about the crop. Maybe if the bird were a little lower horizontally.

    Gorgeous light and colors, the thing that bothers me is the crop as noted.
    Still, there is much to like.
