    Default A Different View

This adolescent Sandhill (head cap has not yet turned red) flew very low and close during its fly in.

D3 with 500vr + 1.4tc tripod mount, f/8, iso 800, -0.33 Had to desat the sky, which seems to have produced a little bit of halo.

Now that is in-your-face! Fine deatil seems lacking, so I'm wondering how much of a crop this is? More sharpening on the face and eyes would be good for web viewing. I'd add a bit more below to prevent the tail skimming the bottom edge.

It does look soft. Here's more sharpening.

Dramatic view. Repost is a definite improvement, David. To my eye nothing seems quite critically sharp. Is this a big crop or maybe one where the AF didn't quite nail it?
