I wanted to experiment with 3d texture and came up with this image I had taken earlier in the summer. These goslings were being taken down the slope to the water by their parents. I decided to rotate the image for more impact. Then extracted the geese using Topaz remask. Copied into multiple layers and applied different filters on each layers... DAP, Topaz Clean, Denoise for the background and Topaz Clean, Simplify on the geese. Opened up few of the flowers in the left using layer mask on the bg layers.. Selected lower quarter and the top of the bg and applied Gaussian blur to create the OOF effect. Layers were then merged with different opacities and applied the sandstone texture to get the final effect. Hope you like it...

Indranil, Really great looking effect. The sharp eye of the adult and the details in the goslings are a nice touch. The painterly BG adds a bit of softness. Well done and thanks for sharing your detailed workflow.:)

Such a sweet image, Indranil and the steps you've taken to create it really builds on that. The one thing I notice that pops out at me is the lighter areas right at the bottom of the screen - they are really pulling my eye away from the baby birds. If it's possible, you might look at just toning them down a little bit or adding a bit of the surrounding green over them to mute them slightly. I think that would leave my eye focused on the mother and the chicks more.
