It was a treat finding this pair let alone watching them preen each other.

Very overcast skies and thick vegetation posed some challenges to capturing them. Went with the squarish crop as to try and minimalize a busy environment.

    Mike,

The face expression is terrific, I love this photo, also the technical part is flawless.

Nice interaction between the two and expression on the visible face. A little more cooperation from the right one to give you at least a peak at the beak would've been a real nice addition. I like how the two main branches sort of funnel the two together. The crop looks fine to me and the complimentary colored BG really only looks busy near the bottom (and even that's not too bad for me). Maybe take a little more off there? A nice image to view.

Nice moment captured, agree with Steve on the cooperation with the owl on right with a little head turn. Doesn't always work out that way. I might take a little off the top and bottom to avoid a little of the busy bg, but this is where they live so I have no problem with leaves and branches.

Sweet interaction. Might drop just below the large branch below the perch branch, or clone-out the white spot as it tends to catch and hold the eye.

Thanks for the crop suggestion. Took some more off the bottom. It got rid of some useless busy stuff as well as added to the perception that they were at a lower angle.

A great 'natures' moment to witness. I am envious of your encounter. I like the height placement of the subjects in the frame. Is it possible there is a slight magenta cast to this image? Congrats on a great moment and capture.

This is a real winner, Mike. Beautiful interaction. Looks like maple trees. Were you up north?
BTW congrats on your "Nature's Best" image of the brown bear. That was a winner, too. What both your images express is exactly what we humans have in common with the rest of the animal kingdom.

I wasn't up north. I have a couple of "pet" owls a few miles from my home here.

    Thanks for the congrats.
