    This image was taken along the banks of the Skagit with Canon 40D WITH A 300F 2.8 +2X EXT ISO 400 F5.6 1/125 sec with standard post processing and no crop.

    beautiful pose,eye contact,backlight...I would prefer a cleaner bg

    Yes, I too would prefer a cleaner background however fiddling too far in Photoshop creates an artificial looking background which I would prefer less.

    I think that this is much stronger without the scraggly top and bottom frames. That plus quite a bit more sharpening.

    I like the effect of the backlight on the bill. Wondering if fill flash was an option to add a little more light from this side?

    Back lit images are tough ,and the shine-through of the beak is especially nice.

    Tough to get many that are not back lit on the Skagit, but handled pretty well here. Arties repost improves this image. I should be heading up there next week to look for short ears and eagles.

    I like the pose a lot, and Art's repost changes the slightly cluttered feel to a look of intersting habitat. Being backlit, I'm ok with the amount body detail, and I like the translucent beak.
