I like everything in this beautiful image!
Very nice. Great colors, sharpness, detail, BG. open beak...
Makes me long for spring!
Peter
Pose, lighting, background, perch and exposure are all wonderful to these eyes. I have no nits to pick - well done! :)
I also like all aspects save for the bird appearing to be overpowered by flash.
Wow,that's some bright sun!
Yet another stunner! You make it look so easy....;)
Wow lovely bird, perch BG and sharpness in the image
Beautiful, Alan. Very nice perch with the multicolored leaves which compliment but do not overpower the bird.
Sweet sweet light.. Wish our state bird was as cooperative here !
Alan...loved many things about it and wont repeat them as others have already said it. One question though....do you leave the room at the bottom for your watermark? Without that, it will look a little negative, wont it?
Altogether, just gorgeous! The chest colours are nicely complimented by those in the leaves/
SH, pose, open bill, perfect head angle for the pose, killer BKGR. As expected. You can learn to create images just like this with a copy of Alan's CD book: https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/category.aspx?catid=33

Hey Kaustubh,
I can't bring the sides in anymore without clipping into the leaves, so the height of the image stays the same. Do I move the bird and perch lower or higher? if I move it down to remove the neg space at the bottom, it then creates more neg space on top. I think I have a balance that I am happy with.
I do not frame my images around the copyright. I just put the cpoyright on there wether it fits or not.
Hope that helps.
Allen,
Did you add the blackberry branch and leaves to just any "old" stick or is this a side branch you fixed over the main stem ?
I love the subtle coloration of the leaves and of course your techs are always good.
Thanks-gives me another arrow in my quiver to consider.
Thx Alan. So if I understand you correctly, you keep the height-to-width ratio constant. I was thinking a crop "just from the bottom" will reduce that empty space below the leaves a bit. But if the height-to-width ratio is sacred, then I agree that this is the best crop. really appreciate you answering my questions promptly.
Well there are no rules as to how to crop, but I do try to keep the 3:2 ratio to my crops so they are all consistant on my website. Even If I didn't care about what ratio it was, I still see the image as being balanced (everyone will see this different) The way I do this is not by measuring the subject and perch against the background, but I measure the neg space all around the image. Pulling more neg space from the bottom will only give more attention the the neg space on top. Hope I'm making sense. Good question Kaustubh.
Alan, Now when I look at it again, I see your point. Its just that I saw your copyright and thought you purposefully left that space so the copyright wont come on top of the leaves...that got me thinking on something that probably was not worth thinking about :-) The "very best" folks like you are much more detail-oriented than folks like me...so I thought better to ask than be shy.
Breathtaking, as always. Thank you for sharing.
