    Photographed today using Nikon D700, 500mm, ISO 640, f 6.7, 1/500 manual exposure.
Animal is wild, but herd is being fed hay by local rancher.

What a good looking spiky :)
Moving a couple of steps to your left, if possible, would have given you more separation from the tree above him.
I see a slight magenta cast to the snow, easy ti fix in Color balance moving the magenta-green slider towards the green until it looks natural. A contrast boost will make the animal more visible in the snow.
Thanks for sharing, I love Elk!

    Hi Sarah

Just drove US 22/20 in Idaho and you guys have plenty of snow there :)

Agree with Fabs and can suggest to crop out the grass to the upper right !!!

Ditto the above. Would also suggest, (and I very rarely ever do this, :D). but a round of sharpening of the whole scene. Not too much, but it'll pick the snow up and accentuate the atmosphere. Normally, i'm a subject only sharpen guy. :D

This gives us a nice idea about the environment. I agree with the above suggestions. Also, I feel the snow is a bit brighter. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
