This is one of my first successful raptor take-off shots.

Taken in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in September 2009. The time of day was midday so I was very happy with the detail and image quality captured here.

    Your comments most welcome...

Nice that the PCG is looking straight at you, Morkel! Difficult customers to nail properly as they would rather fly off than sit and wait to be bothered by the paparazzi! Nice space for him to fly into.

Very good head angle and the IQ very good for midday conditions. Exposure also well handled.

    Morkel,
I agree with the previous comments. Some more sharpening of the head would be good. Look forward to more raptors from you. Thanks for sharing.

Well placed in the frame for the take off, and I m glad you left the perch in. Maybe darkening this overall may help with the harsh light. Still, well captured mate.

    Hi Morkel,
A very cool shot with a great HA and good detail throughout. The pose is excellent! On my calibrated monitor at home there seems to be either a red or magenta cast to this shot especially in the BG. The harsh light is not to eminent here as it seems you had overcast conditions....??? As such I would try to lighten this up even more instead of darkening it, using an S curve. If I get to it I will do a repost... Cheers!

I used selective colour and color balance to adjust for the magenta/red colourcast a bit, dodged the eye a bit and used curves to lighten this up a bit more. I hope you like it. I think I overdid the highlights on the far wing though.......

It seems to lack a little bit of detail in places. I wonder how much of a crop this is Mork? Looking good with a grand HA and wings up pose! Congrats! :)

    thanks for the effort Krijn!
Akos - not much of a crop eh, probably 65% of original image...
