Shot this Cardinal yesterday morning under fairly low light conditions. I typically limit myself to iso 800 with the D90 but that wasn't going to cut it in this light. This was taken at iso 2000 and I'm quite surprised by the results. Yes, there is a fair amount of noise, but the IQ is quite acceptable by my standards (at this size)...Who needs a D3s?!:D

    Taken with Nikon D90, 200-400 f/4 @ f/5.6, 1/60s, 0EV, iso 2000.

Great shot Graham, I like the focus on the head both colour, and detail, the falling snow and the snow on it's head. The composition and crop is nice but I wonder what a portrait would look like with the strong downward action of the falling snow. As well, it would reduce the amount tree branch in the shot while nice from an environmental perspective is a little overwhelming.
    Great HA and eye contact.
Certainly has been a lot of this type of weather lately.

I am very impressed too. High ISO very well handled. The IQ is very good and falling snow adds. Great shot Graham.

Hey Graham, nice winter feel. Perfect HA for this pose. Good job with the post processing as I can't tell where those twigs were. That one snowflake crossing the body (on the back) keeps catching my eye. Good job all around.
