Taken at a feeder station. I was more than happy when this little guy hopped onto this snow "mound" and stayed put for a few seconds. A couple of empty sunflower seed shells patched out.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @ 400mm, evaluative metering, manual exposure (metered off snow, +2 stops), 1/320s., f/6.3, ISO 800, natural light, handheld. ~90% full frame (tiny bit cropped right and bottom).

Loverly junco in snow heaven. Love the angle to the bird and the soft light.

Great texture in the snow, good job keeping it. I like the rather relaxed pose on the junco.

Beautiful bird and setting Daniel the shot has a nice feel to it as I like how the snow fades into the background.

This has an almost "misty" feel to it...very pleasing to view. Nice eye contact and feather details.

Can't imagine how you would get a better image of a Junco.

Junco's are deceivingly tough. Good job Daniel. We have a ton of them here in Wyoming and I have yet to get anything this good.

    Very nice Dan,
You're doing an excellent job with the winter feeder birds as of late. Very soft light indeed. I like how the only detail seen in the snow is directly under the bird (a consequence of the slight shadow).

Nice habitat shot of this "snowbird". I also like how the soft shadow keeps the belly from blending in with the snow.

Excellent exposure all round Dan, and I like how the lower BG blends into the little guy.

Techs very well handled here. I also like the blending from the snow onto the body. Very nice image Daniel.

The bird is sharp, but the image has a pillowy softness about it that is very pleasing to the eye. Like it a lot.

Daniel....among all the other things, loved the placement of the bird in the frame a lot. An image you should be very proud about.

Fantastic presentation, Daniel. I love the soft light and the detail in the bird. The white part of the plumage is nicely distinguishable from the snow and everything makes a beautiful harmony with the BG. Well done.

The texture in the snow along the little crest seems to kindly compliment the feather detailing. Some wonderful color balance, nice earthtones and a dab of pink on the beak all under low light. I like the fact that one leg is showing to support the bird too.
    Simple and stunning actually.
