Hi Peter - A lot of these guys around here in Missouri right now. You snagged a nice image of one of the lively little critters. I would love to see it with a little less contrast.
Nice specimen, and a good look at heir "fall" plumage. I like the touches of yellow showing. Interesting abstract BG, but I would tone down the light branch at top. I agree the contrast looks strong. I'm not a huge fan of squarely "pruned" twigs such as the one near the foot (preference is a naturally broken off look).
I like the basic COMP and the Sharpness. Much too contrasty and probably over-sharpened as well. The BKGR is not good and the perch is ugly and overpowers the bird.
