OK, you guys have finally driven me to trying and posting a fractalious image. This is an old favorite image. I did the frac thing on him and then did a layer mask to reveal the eye. After getting the eye back, I lowered the opacity on the frac layer just a touch to bring a bit more color back into the ground area. By the way, this was done starting with the glow 100 preset.

Dave, Glad you tried it. I love this! The windblown feathers are great. I love the revealed sharp eye. Very nicely done!!:)

Beautiful! I tried this the other day as well and ended up masking off the fracs around the end of the beak - it just makes it look cleaner to me. Love the windswept feathers in this...great sense of implied motion.

Thanks Julie and Denise. I'm gonna go back and mask off those fracs at the end of the beak. I appreciate the suggestions and think it will be a big improvement. It's a fun plugin to play with and I can see potential in some of the other areas of photography that I work with.

this is an awesome image to use the fract with Dave- I love the effects on the long plumes and grass. I think the suggestion to clean up the area around the beak is a good one and will make a great image even better. Very nice work :)

Thanks Cindy and Nick. Yep, I gotta evict those fracs around the beak. Glad Julie pointed that out for me.

Dave, The repost looks good. I however liked the bit of light at the tip of the bill. Either way an excellent image!:)

I have to admit - even the first one works...but I do like the "clean shaven" look better! ;)

Very nice effect, Dave. Great image to start with. I like both the images... these frac images are coming out as visual treat. TFS.
