    Default Black-headed Heron landing

D300S; 600 f4; ISO 800, 1/2000; f6.3; +0,3EV; 2010:01:01 063:35; sRGB JPG; Matrix; Wimberley Head on Manfrotto; AP. The lens is rented, but is bagged quite a few that day. Light not yet there for a blue sky.
Right, I forgot, cropped the excess off the picture.

    Great calling/landing pose!
    Nice light and exposure.

Maybe a bit more room all around if you have it.

Thanks Mike, appreciate. And yes, I have the space, but personally preferred the tight crop on the smaller web image otherwise the details go.

Excellent capture. A great landing pose, good details. I have never seen this heron before, thanks for sharing.

Hi Callie, I like the landing pose with the open beak. Was this taken at LC?

    welcome to BPN, Callie!

like this one, and would add just a tiny sliver of space in front of the bird (just enough to not lose detail ;))

    looking forward to more...

    Thanks Guys!
Stuart, this was shot at Lonehill next to the shopping centre, my first, but not last, fist there.
Morkel, yes, one can add some space, but my default gut composition feeling coerce me to crop it like this. I would rather add a bit to the top and then to the front.
Thanks for looking and taking time to comment.

Good action in the image Callie! I agree that the image maybe needs some space in front of the Heron - easy to extend the Canvas. I also think the image can do with a little more sharpening. You should also be able to pull the required blue out of the background. I also see a bit of a halo around the bird - especially the tail. Otherwise a great image ;)

Thanks, I hear and see. Maybe I must do one of your courses soon. I shoot only jpeg, and I know it often cause the halo against the sky. I also never sharpen except of the web image that gets a faded sharpen edges. My PP work can do with a lot of improving.
