Mallard drakes always put such a colourful display whatever they are doing ,and make for some interesting action to practice on as a bonus when the other ducks are not around

This is a most engaging image, Suzanne.
The 'full flaps' wing position really adds drama to the visual story.
Comp is great, as is every technical aspect -- exposure, sharpness and color sat.
The shadows on the neck and top of the head are the price of the light and wing positions in this case.
That's just an observation ... not a criticism, as I really like this one! :)
super sharp and lovely exposure Suzanne! I agree with the shadows on the head but at least the eye is open. I think a slightly lower shooting angle to get more level with the mallard would have improved this even more.
Super sharp Suzanne, and I like the landing posture. I also like the hint of the droplets too. If anything, I would take a tad off the top, and add to the bottom.
