This is the first time I have tried to overlay a texture. I am hooked. The possibilities are endless.

This is Overlay mode at slightly less than 100%. I masked out the flower.

When I found the free texture on a website, I thought of this image that Mirenchu posted a while back, so I found a flower that I shot back in the summer and gave it a try.

Patti, You really rocked this! Great use of the texture. The writing adds another dimension and your image design is super.:)

this is lovely Patti.. texturing is definitely addictive, at one time I belonged to at least 15 groups on flickr dedicated to textures and am going to have to get yet another external backup just for all of my texture files:D Finding the right texture for an image isn't always as easy as it looks, but you certainly chose a nice one here. Looking forward to viewing more, this is really well done :)

Patti, the only thing I think would make this stronger would be if your printed layer talked specifically about flowers or gardening...so we could see that popping through! Beautiful overlay work.

Thanks Denise and Cindy. I will be scouring the web for freebie textures and photographing things I never thought twice about to feed this new habit. Very cool theme!

Thanks Jules. That is a great idea. I'll keep that in mind for another time.

Patti, I've found many good ones on deviantart.com. Flickr is an excellent source for textures as well. Many charge for their textures, but there's alot of members that offer them free as well. Here's a couple links to help you out:

Patti, I love the composition and the writing adds so much - would like to see maybe a page from a seed
catalog or gardening book but it's lovely the way it is. And thanks Cindy for the links - I can hardly wait to
    look:)
