    Another image in the sequence of a Black Bellied Plover preening. I was wondering is there enough of the eye showing in this one to make it a successful preening image. I also revisited the whites :)

    40D, 500 f/4 IS + 1.4TC, 1/1600 at f/7.1, Aperture Priority, Evaluative Metered, ISO 400, RAW, Tripod, Cropped

    If it had a catch light, it would work better. Composition wise, the negative space should be on the right rather than the left because that's where the bird is facing. I may crop the reflection some more since it's blurry anyway.
    Pretty detail in the feathers. If this is something you do, I'd remove the shine on the legs.

    Angle, whites and BG look good. I agree with Fabs on composition and eye contact.

    Agree with Fab's fine critique. I would definitely crop some form the bottom - reflection is not strong enough to include - IMHO :)
