    Default "Victorian Garden"

    “Victorian Garden”

    Note:
This is a two image composite, consisting of the flower and the butterfly. It was illuminated using fluorescent black lights, and under exposed, to give the composition an old Victorian look through the eyes of the painter. It was processed in CS4 and the final touches rendered in Corel Painter 11.

This Victorian garden was painted with a Nikon D300s, using a Nikkor 85mm f/3.5G ED VR macro lens.

    Image solution:
focal length @ 85mm / exposure mode @ aperture priority / metering mode - combination of in camera matrix metering, and hand held spot meter, sampling three anchor points, for balanced light distribution. / 1/60sec. - f/5.6 / ISO @ 320 / exposure comp @ -0.3EV / white balance @ manual, custom profile using an expo disk for calibration / AF Mode @ manual / color space @ sRGB / tone comp @ +1 degree / hue adjustment @ +2 degrees / saturation factor @ +2 degrees / lighting solution - used six black light fluorescent tubes, with corresponding diffuser grid panels to tone down and balance the light. / Support platform – monopod assist /

Nice Mr. Gus! What a technical tour de force you did there. You definitely achieved your goal, as it does look very much like a Victorian painting. Thanks for sharing and for the technical explanation. Sweet!
