There we were, minding our own business, sitting in the boat eating left over peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and drinking hot chocolate to keep warm. :) All of a sudden a Loon popped up out of the water and completly, unprovoked, with two of his friends charged directly at us. Of course we had no choice but to lay down a shooting barrage like a Seal Recon mission gone bad, dropping the birds inches before they strafted the boat. I had never known Loons to like peanut butter. What wild hellish eyes they have. I will not sleep well tonight.
Wow unbelievable action Bill and those eyes are amazing. Your timing could not have been better and yuou brought a smile to my face this morning. Thanks !!!!
Bill
That's one crazy bird....not something I'd like to be facing. Those piercing red eyes mean business. However.....it looks like a Horned Grebe to me rather than a loon.
I see, said the blind man. Lana, you have been a busy bee. You have a most impressive gallery. I was particularly struck by your double Brown Pelican dive. That for me, as much as I love raptors, is an awsome shot. I took the liberty of sending it to my best friend who lives on the central coast, California and is also a photographer, BPN member Glenn Forbes. Thanks for the insite - Bill

Thanks for the nice compliment. The morning I photographed the pelicans was one of the best times that I had while in Florida. When there's nothing else to photograph......you can count on the pelicans.
