I added a fractalius effect to this and masked back in some areas. The orig. was boring. I took it yesterday at my local pond.

You're really mastering the Fractilius program, Denise. I keep getting so-so results with it (need to just sit and play some more, I'm sure.)

I think if you could get a little bit of separation between the dark tones of the duck and the BG it would make this even stronger. Maybe lighten just the duck head and the top breast area a bit (letting it fade down to the dark underbelly area) so they pop against the dark wings and BG? You really have a great mood here!

Hi Denise, another beautiful frac composition. Nice subject and well managed effect. What I like most about is the rim light around the duck with a dark bg. nice mood.

Denise I like the rim lighting too as it looks like the light is coming from behind. Just wish for a different (smoother?) transition between the blue and black in the water. Nice base image, you must have been freezing if you were out shooting yesterday.

Thanks folks, I'll fine tune it a bit.
Jackie, It wasn't that bad. It needs to get a bit colder so the water freezes more so the ducks will be forced closer:eek:But I do wear snowboard pants and a down jacket!

Here is a repost. I de-saturated and tried to give a smoother transition between BG and water.
