We get a nice variety of winter ducks here on LI. Most times they are shy and difficult to get close to. This Red-breasted Merganser was part of a group of 6 or 7 feeding in a local bay. They never got close enough for a great opportunity , but still to hard to pass up. This is about a 40% crop which I think held up very well. Interested in your thoughts.

I like it there is a nice catch light in the eye and the drop of water on its back is a nice touch. I agree it is hard to get these birds up close:)

I agree with you in that it "held up very well". Everything looks good to me.

Light and eye contact looks good. The whites are partially overexposed, should be easy to fix.

Interesting looking beak, and I like the droplet on his bank.
