Default Little Blue - DeSoto's Only Winter Resident?

DeSoto has been dead the last 2 days. This was the only guy feeding in the am on shrimp cocktails.

It was a pretty overcast day which I like for birds; except there were none around.

    Stats: Canon EOS 7d + 500 4.0L + 1.4x TCII
    1/500
    f/5.6
    ISO 400
    Incident +2

A pleasing image. The high key BG works nicely IMO. Looks to me like the critical focus was on the body leaving the head/beak slightly soft.

Head softness aside , this seems like a very nice image. The reflection is outstanding and the light you had seems perfect for the shot. Good comp. as well.

I like the soft light and high key BG. Lovely reflection too.

I like the high-key approach, pose and reflection. You could try to selectively sharpen the head and bill more.

This is not a normal shot for me but it is art of bird photography :)

Really nice shot. Excellent composition. Like the high key. The reflection really makes this shot for me. Agree with the others about the head/beak not being sharp enough. Too bad he didn't have a shrimp too!
