I love the vibrant colors, flash work, and I even like the OOF leaves. I would prefer a nice green BG, but you can't always have everything.

Awesome looking bird with great colours. Good look-back pose too. Too bad the OOF FG foliage is obstructing a good chunk of the perch. I also wish the bird and leaf weren't so close. Good comp. Have you thought of cloning or patching out the white specks on the black plumage?

That's a beautiful bird. The body position and head angle allow us to see the colors, but still have eye contact! That's a huge plus. The leaves in the BG do detract from the subject IMO.

I'm curious about the specs though, 1/100?

Thanks for posting- my first time seeing this species.

You did well with the white sky conditions. Great head turn as well. My biggest problem is with the angled stalk in the BKGR that intersects with the bill and the "Y" of of the perch. Just bad luck.... Wicked colors and a way-cool species.

incredible colours on this bird, flash has brought it all out nicely (although i'm sure it's just as stunning, without flash).
I wish the perch wasn't so washed out, burning shadows might help there.
I don't mind the leaves intersecting branch as the bird balances the composition.

Nicely composed image. You did very well with challenging light. Excellent colours and detail. I have no problem with the stalk behind the beak as it is so OOF nor with the perch.

Such a colorful Bird and you did well to capture it in such a good position. Nice and sharp and nice light.
I agree with coments on the leaves but habitat is habitat...
