The centered comp actually puts the head close to the one of the points on the ROT grid I was playing with and since this was about the bird and his singing, I'm alright without the space for him to sing into. Always interested to hear other opinions though. 20D, 400DO +1.4xTC, f6.3, 1/125s, ISO 800, tripod, slight crop from left, top, and right.

Nice pose and perch and sharp overall. I like the catch light on the beak and eye.
I probably would have slid the bird left in the crop, but what you have done works for the reasons you stated.

Lovely soft light, perfect exposure, and simple BG. I like the singing pose and the perch is decent. I think there is enough room in front, but I might lose a bit of the room in the back.

    Keep them coming!

Beautiful singing pose and nice BG.
I would crop a little off the left side.

My thoughts about the comp too! Great exposure, calling pose, and BG. I kinda wish we'd see more of the perch below. Only 3 1/2 months to go until these guys show up again!:D

    Steve:

I understand your crop thoughts, but like Aidan's thought.

He really looks like he is putting his all into it!

    Nice techs.

About as nice of an image of a RWB as a person can get, Steve. Well done. I'll be watching for it in Birder's World Magazine.

Hi Steve, wishing you a Happy New Year. Excellent exposure on the blacks, and well timed to capture the calling pose. Overall, nice and sharp, and what a superb BG. Comp wise, I would take off the left, and a slight bit off the top.

Very nice shot with good details and great BG. Comp is too centered it can lose some space on the left.

I agree with less space left but otherwise very nicely done with well exposed blacks and a great pose.
