My first trip to Bosque del Apache was a learning experience. I was there for 3 days. The first 2 days were overcast and snowy. Not as many birds this years, but I was determined to make the best of it. It also was the first time I used my 500mm f.4L with my Wimberley Head. By the 3rd day, I figured out how to use them all. This is an image taken at sunrise on the 3rd day with my Canon 50D. ISO 640, f/5.6, 1/1600 sec, EF500mm f/4.0L IS USM, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, AE Servo, No Flash. Comments Welcome......

A beautiful capture indeed Mr. Waas...I like the raised wing position with the fine details, you have a good head angle with a sharp eye; and your subject is placed just right in frame. The golden light is beautiful...a big congrats...

Classic pose with good detail and bird turning into the sun. Is there a slight color cast on the far wing?

Richard, strong image, I assume the slight-cast is the morning light? Great frame position, wing extension and feather detail - well done.

Looks like you got the hang on that baby Richard. Congrats on a sharp, and well exposed image.
Congrats! Come by Shark Valley tomorrow
