Happy New Year! I see things are a-changin'.

I made these original images back before Christmas using my new Soft Focus optic for my Lensbaby. I processed the image yesterday using Nik Dfine, Viveza 2, Color Efex Pro Midnight Filter. It looks way underexposed because it now is. It is supposed to look that way!

This one was shot at 4.0 sec @ f/5.6; ISO 100; -1 EV. Background was black velvet and the lighting was overhead but dialed way back.

Camera was the 30D; lens obviously the Lensbaby Composer w/ Soft Focus Optic; tripod mounted.

    Thoughts?

Ed, I remember seeing this posted in Macro,or at least another version. I of course like this one better. I love the dark mood and the softness created by the Lensbaby. I also like the deeper red of this one more. I love it! HNY! :D

I really like the mood of the photo and colour of the flower. The only thing that bothers me is the stem, wouldn't mind seeing the whole thing, but all in all a very nice image.

Ed, I love the mysterious mood and the soft lighting. A nice way to begin the New Year:)

I do like your version but the first thing I thought of was I wish I could see a little more light in the area that you had the light. I opened the image and did a quick Darken Edges/Lighten Center with Color Efex and then slid levels midtones to 1.2. For me, it opened up the center and let me "peek inside" a bit more than the first version.

The mood here is incredible, Ed and the texture of the petals is velvety soft. Lovely!
