    THese gulls were at the cumberland fields in Middleboro at the manure pits the maroon are in front are remains of crushed cranberries

    I have often struggled with this type of shot. Large flocks of birds which look impressive in the field often fail to make really interesting images. I think it has something to do with scale, the small image on the computer monitor usually does not do this subject justice.
    As well, your eye aimlessly wanders around the shot without direction or focus. What are they feeding on which the title refers to? The source of the frenzy is not evident. In this case, I think the pile of crushed cranberries in the foreground is distracting as I doubt it is the focus of the composition.
    Sometimes a reduced dof and focus on one of small group of the birds helps.
    Just my thoughts.
