    Default Black Rosy Finch

Went up to the Sandia Crest near Albuquerque yesterday with BPN Moderator Doug Brown and BPN Member Gary Rouleau. Had a great time photographing the Rosy Finches. Conditions were extremely cold, windy and blowing snow, but it made for some nice opportunities.

I was pleased with this image of a Black Rosy Finch on a nice snowy perch.
Thanks in advance for your comments and critique.

Hey Keith, That's a new race for me, so thanks! This one is excellent: perfect EXP and perfect head angle for this body position. Love the snow and the pine (?) needles, the breast and belly feather detail, the upturned bill, and of course--the gray crown.

I have heard that it is always a bit nippy and windy up there....

I like the snowy setting, eye contact and composition. I might selectively sharpen the head a bit more. This is one of the species I'd love to see sometime.

I figure the wind chill factor was about -20 degrees up there! It's really hard to take a quality image at the top of the Sandias when the wind is blowing 30 mph in the winter. Nicely done Keith!

Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year
