    Default Pelican test post

The last time I posted here, the post was too large. I'm posting thru Flickr and this is the next size down which I think is ok. Then I posted in the Behavior forum and got a big "X" in the thumbnail for the forum postings. So, I'll try, try again.
This is a male pelican in breeding colors off of the Isle Coronado in the Sea of Cortez. It was taken with a Canon XSi, 100-400 lens, 1/200, f18, iso200 and handheld as 99.9% of my photos are. (I kind of like the funky feather so I left it)

Gerri there is a note at the top of the forum on how to post (size-wise). Bird looks sharp, and I like the water. I like the feather left in as well, gives the bird character.

Hi Gerri - sharp with a good HA and eye contact - would have liked to see a lower shooting angle - F18 is overkill here as well - opening up some would have blurred your BG some more and made Mr Pelican pop out from the BG some.
    Blacks may be blocked??
    Keep em coming :)

    Hi Gerri,
You have razor sharp details, with a good head angle and sharp eye contact...the capture angle is a tad on the steep side...agree with Mr. Peters on the techs. Looking forward to your next one...

    Gerri,

Loads of color, image really pops and I like the crop, good job! Agree with Lance and Gus
