selected Ibis, copied to new layer, used clone brush to remove Ibis from bottom layer, applied fractalius, applied frac to top layer(bird). Oh yea, added reflection.
    comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

By the way to all you new Fractalius users, thank Dave Phillips(our resident plug-in tester;)), who first introduced it here as far as I know!

Bill, I think you are correct Dave Phillips turned us all onto the Frac program and DAP if I remember correctly. Both programs are fantastic.
I really like the colors of the BG and the frac. work. The reflection looks a bit squished IMO. Love the details in the Ibis.:)

Exposure and detail on the Ibis are wonderful! I also noticed that your reflected Ibis is "squished". I'm not sure how you did your reflection, but I did the same "squish" thing when I tried out the Reflection tutorial link that Christopher posted. It just seems like a logical step to add to get more in the reflection.

Love the pose and the soft muted tones here Bill, it has a nice surreal feel to it. If it were mine I would just get rid of the black line coming off the beak. A minor point and I am probably being too picky.

very unusual treatment Bill.......the bg is sweet as is the lifelike ibis.
The only element that bothers me just a wee bit is the lack of curve
in the long bill reflection. Otherwise, very nicely don

Very nice, Bill! Love the effect of the Frac on the BG and the colors. Nice touch with the reflection, though I think I would prefer it be less "squished." Just my personal opinion.

Thanks guys(and gals). Appreciate the feedback as always. The reflection was added as an afterthought. Just inverted the bird, reduced opacity, and "squished it". Actually, now that I think about it, and after looking at a few real reflections in other Ibis photos, it is incorrect as well. The real reflection would show more of the underside of the bird , and the lower side of the far wing would be partially visible as well. Probably should have left it out. regards~bill

Bill - I love the fract bg and the original image. Would probably like it better sans reflection:) Happy New

What a sweet image - the colors are gorgeous. I really like the soft look you chose for the fractals. I find my eye being drawn to the very small area of back wing as it is brighter white than the rest. If you could tone that down a little I think my eye would move from left to right and follow the bird right out of the frame. ;)
