    Default American Goldfinch

    I was at Ojibway Park yesterday and took this photo of an American Goldfinch

    BG needs a noise reduction round and the overlaping of the perch with the bird is a bit distracting. I love the light, sharpness and mood of this scene. :)

    I like the angle, fluffed-up bird and head angle. I would sharpen the bird a bit less and run NR on the BG. You don't mention flash in the techs, what FEC did you use? I'm wondering if a bit less flash would have been sufficient.

    Thanks Juan and Alex;

    My FEC was -1 2/3 and what is the best way to run NR on the BG

    I love the sharpness of the bird, and overall colours. Too bad the perch had to curve over the subject though. A few of the hard edged lines in the BG could be smoothed out.

    To run NR on the BG you can just select the bird and perch (using a quick mask is probably the easiest and cleanest way), inverse the selection, then run NR.
