    Adult winter plumage.

    40D. 400 f5.6 at f/9. iso 320. 1/1250. exp. comp +1/3

    Red Gape and orbital ring... definitely an adult :). Thanks for the ID help.

    Nice light HA, and exposure. The sky seems to be just about right too, maybe just a couple of points less saturation, but it could just be me. I wish for a less steep angle.

    My first thought was the steepish angle. If you can find one at eye level that would be great. Good exposure on this guy - the whites look like they should. You can see the nictitating membrane covering most of the eye, wish we couldn't. I would also do some bill clean-up. Some may wish for a bit more room in front, but I'm OK with the comp.

    Stunning as is. My only wish is a lower shooting angle.
