    This is atypical in that there are usually dozens of these birds together. There's been a huge invasion of these into south eastern Australia this summer. I'll post a more 'typical' shot later.

    Beautiful bird and nice image , lovely HA here and habitat , blue patch is not ideal but do not bother me much

    Great shot Rob.
    I like the low angle, the typically alert pose and the non-distracting habitat.

    Tripod?

    Leo - the boogie board is for when I want to be mobile. Used it last night and came out stinking and covered in black mud.
    Nevil - this was taken at a swamp on private property about 25km south-east of hamilton. There are advantages in teaching all these kids from farms.
