    Default Sleepy head.

06.54am. This was one of the lower ranking males in the 10 Mapula WD pack
who was content to lie in long after the others had romped around!

Hey Marc - I do love these painted dog shots of yours and the "Running Painted Dog" shot still remains my favorite in 2009. The face and ears are captured beautifully here and you can really sense the mood of the critter. My taste would have placed the dog on the other side of the frame and taken a little off the blurry foreground. If the former would require the addition of canvas I would have presented it as shown. I'm looking forward to some great 2010 wild dog images from you.

Geez...........putting the pressure on for next year, I hope to at least encounter WD, let alone capture some nice images.
I'm off to Kenya & Tanzania next Sept, so I'll try my best :D

Love the eye and ears !
Would have cropped the foreground out some if possible.
I would love to have a shot at this species.

I think you might be right Danny, I do have some room from original crop of approx 25%.
Have left the WB warmer, reflecting the true morning light.
    Resubmission here:

Wow - I'm starting to smell the little critter now! Intimate shot. They have such a big head as compared to the rest of their body.

    Marc,

Not many people would describe a Wild Dog as sweet, I would.
The repost is much better, good viewing in Mapula is nearly a guarantee.

I like the repost. The increased space at the left has helped. I like the eye contact.
