    The king fishers around here are not as vibrantly colored as the others I see posted on BPN. What they lack in coloration they make up in quickness and skittishness.

    Not thrilled where the background meets the sky but I was in about the only position available.

    Learning a new plugin so I might be doing more harm then good at the moment.

    MKIII, EF500 @1.4x, 1/1600, f/8, ISO 800, hand held.

    Good timing to catch the launch, Mike. Not sure if this is much of a crop but if it can stand it I would crop some from below and left to reduce the impact of the perch. Burning it in a little would also be an option. What plugin are you using?

    Hi Mike. I like the timing of this photo.

    I agree with you regarding the background, but it is much better to get the shot without optimal conditions than to miss the shot completely.
