Betsie Storm posted a roan from Makola a few weeks ago, I think I suffered from the same harsh light.

We found a nice herd with youngsters in the shade and decided to move off for a while, fatal mistake, when we returned they were in the distance in good light, a lesson learned.

Taken on 13th December 2009, Makola National Park, Northern Cape, South Africa.

    EOS 1D MkIIn

28-300mm at 210mm, legs hidden so I zoomed for head contact.

    F7.1, ISO 400, 1/16000, EV-1/3rd

Nice pose in difficult light Ken, is this a sub adult? Have only ever seen a few.

    Marc,

This is definitely not a full grown bull, it was by itself.

I've only ever seen a few as well, that is why we went to Makola we shall return.
