    Default Stilt

Murphy's law was in full effect over the Christmas break for me in South Texas.
I forgot a whole bag back home which included amongst other things, the camera battery, charger, laptop etc, which I realized only after reaching the destination. Nothing that a day long wait, and then an hour's drive to the nearest Best Buy couldn't fix ... and then it rained through out the rest of the stay.
Not to be deterred, I did go out and get gobs of pictures.
Turns out my modest Canon gear is mostly pretty weather-proof (580 EXII refused to work)
Silver lining was the 12 lifers I saw :)

No real "keepers", but I wanted to share some anyway; especially to get educated on post-processing techniques when conditions are otherwise crummy.

    Canon 50D + 300 f2.8 + 2x
    Manual 1/400 F5.6, ISO 400
Nearing sunset on a very cloudy and wet day.
Full frame (wish I hadn't clipped that ellipse around the bird)

Nice reflection captured of the bird. I wish there was more light which would include more details u could have tried higher ISO settings there .

Sidharth, glad you stuck with it after that ordeal. Nice bird (I'm still waiting to get one of them). Were it mine I would probably crop some from the top and eliminate any remaining dark patch in the ULC. A wee bit of CCW rotation is also needed to get the leg and its reflection to align vertically. And I'm not good at this, but I wonder if an adjustment in RAW Capture could add some detail into the blacks.
